Cleaned up the rain gutters...

While not in terrible shape, the rain gutters needed some work before I go to paint. This was not an easy process as I will not be removing the stainless trim for fear of damaging it.

I started the process by modifying a cheap, long bladed screwdriver which I used to chip out the filler that lined the gutters. It had lifted and split all along both sides, but there were still places where it held tight.

After removing 95%, I taped off the trim with a "tough" duct tape. Using a Scotch pad attachment on the air grinder, I carefully cleared all remaining filler and as much of the rust as possible. While surface rust may have remained to some degree in some pitting, the bulk was gone.

Next step was to add a rust converter primer coat. Now I just need to add some filler to smooth it all back out. I will add pics when I get the filler going.
